1972 Lancia 2000 Berlina

Finshed in Blue Lancia with Aragosta velvet interior this Lancia 2000 Berlina was based on the earlier Lancia Flavia Saloon and kept the entire drive train of its predecessor, but with some important changes.

Changes were made to the front and rear of the 2000 body, where the designers reinterpreted the styling with a more modern theme. The tail was squared and simplified and the nose lost its separate air intakes. The mechanical side retained most of the Lancia Flavia's specifications including front-wheel drive, independent suspension and the vacuum-assisted Super Duplex split-circuit braking system, however, it is now fitted with a 1991cc 4 cylinder boxer engine and a twin choke carburettor that produced 115bhp.

At the time and due to the Lancia 2000s high production costs, Fiat was not in favour of putting the model into production. In the absence of any other new Lancia flagship models being ready, the 2000 was nonetheless launched in 1971. The 2000 was considered by many fans of the marque to be "the last real Lancia" due to the high build quality that the later models lacked.

This particular car looks superb and is a pleasure to drive; having been repainted at some time in its past, the paintwork has benefitted from professional polishing and looks splendid in the original Lancia Blue.

The power steering and smooth manual gearbox make progress easy and effortless. The interior is complete and unmarked, with the grey door panels contrasting superbly with the Aragosta velvet interior. The original Voxson 8 track stereo system is still fitted to the car.

A recently obtained MOT test and with the odometer showing just 7700kms, it is ready to take on the challenge of a new owner.
